The essential components of a fully integrated HeatRay system comprise the following functional modules, supplied with the umbrella shade structure:

- Canopy Skylights
- Linking Gutters
- Perimeter Gutters
- Windbreak Side Curtains
An ultimate outdoor heating system for the 21st Century.
Recent advancements in the application of deep infrared energy systems, based on a unique Non-Glowing radiant heating technology (initially developed by HeatRay in Australia for the medical industry) when applied to our commercial outdoor heating system, allow for unprecedented reduction of daily running costs by as much as 75%-80%. These market proven results are made in comparison with the traditional Propane fired or electric red/orange Glowing heating systems.
HeatRay’s Non-Glowing heaters are particularly suitable for extensive daily usage and long seasonal operation over many seasons. The HeatRay slim-line heating panels integrate seamlessly not only with our own HeatRay Architectural Umbrellas but also with other outdoor structures i.e. pergolas, gazebos, marquees, glass conservatories as well as fabric pavilions or fixed overhangs & awnings, just to mention a few.
HeatRay Electric Radiant Heating panels have been designed to provide optimal performance in outdoor environments. The gently curved (convex) black faces of the slimline panels never glow but deliver totally invisible and pleasantly dispersed heat, without creating any “hotpots” over the seating space, commonly associated with most Glowing Heaters, equally gas fired or electric.
HeatRay Non-Glowing panels have been fine-tuned to provide a very comfortable and highly efficient radiant heat, similar to the gentle energy provided by the morning Sun, but in the case of our heaters, without the visible spectrum of light or the UV rays, which the Sun and other glowing heaters inherently produce.
When the non-visible, deep infrared energy lands on the human skin, the deeper layers of the body tissues and the peripheral blood vessels get gently invigorated, providing most pleasant internal body warmth.

When application of an ultimate Non-Glowing radiant heating system may not be possible.
Heatray Glowing heaters provide moderately concentrated heat for outdoor spaces which are partially or fully exposed to the elements and when the Alfresco structures on which they will be installed are not equipped with suitable weather protection accessories. Typical applications include door entrances, corridors, building facades with window displays, semi protected transit shelters, municipally designated smoking pavilions and in other situations where the exposure to the glowing heat is limited in time.
Heatray Glowing Heaters can be seamlessly integrated with the HeatRay’s Umbrellas, as well as with most other outdoor structures in order to provide an instant & highly effective radiant heat.

Dimmable LED or fixed Compact Fluorescent.
The HeatRay lights are designed to integrate with the HeatRay Umbrellas. The Slim-line fixtures are set on the top of the arms of the umbrella so that the light reflects off the umbrella’s canopy rather than shining directly onto people below. In case of the dimmable LED system, the total amount of light illumination under individual umbrellas is independently controlled from within the building via HeatRay Power Control Modules.
Both lighting systems are suitable for frequent washing with water cleaning devices and garden hoses.
HeatRay lights are incorporated onto the umbrellas’ arms and shine up toward the canopy rather than downward into the patrons’ eyes. This configuration tends to create a nicely dispersed light without the effects of hotspots or shadows.

When the view to the Sky & the surroundings truly matters.

In case of the dimmable LED system, the total amount of light illumination under individual umbrellas is independently controlled from within the building via HeatRay Power Control Modules.

Canopy Skylights create an extended and seamless overhead coverage which becomes essential when a number of structures are joined together by the HeatRay linking gutter system.
Features:
- Available in clear, marine grade Vinyl finish, most frequently requested for projects in geographical areas having shorter summers, when maximum exposure to sunlight is considered healthy and desirable.
- An opaque PVC fabric, white or other color, is available when maximum shading over the seating area is required in hotter climates, thus when a maximum protection against Sun’s intense UV radiation is desired or recommended.
- Canopy Skylights are easily removable if the entire umbrella structure requires seasonal collapsibility or temporary removal from the leased footpath, either prior to occasional footpath surface restoration or for snow collection purposes during winter, which may be a seasonally imposed requirement by some Municipalities in North-Eastern states of the USA and by some Municipalities in Canada.
Linking gutters enable a number of umbrella structures to be joined together, to form a larger modular overhead canopy. The linking gutters capture a rain fall from the neighbouring umbrellas, ensuring no water runs between the individual structures. Linking gutters can be fully customized within a width span of 6″ – 24″ in order to provide a maximum possible separation between umbrellas ( if required) thus optimizing the overall floor coverage.
A linking gutter system enables joining of many umbrellas to facilitate water protection on a large scale, with up to 24 umbrellas being comfortably inter-connected.
Features:
- A large number of the same model umbrellas can be linked together.
- Certain rectangular models can be linked with the square models when covering irregular or asymmetrical spaces.
- Linking gutters can be seasonally removed and reinstalled before the rainy season. This feature is universal over the entire range of HeaRay Weather Risk Management accessories.
Controlled Rain Water Run-off
Flexible and grade adjustable fabric gutters complement our umbrella systems in order to effectively control rain water run-off. Collected rain can be discharged to garden beds, or piped down directly to existing water drains via dedicated spouts, strategically located along umbrella perimeters.
The water capturing gutters may run along some or all the peripheries of a single umbrella structure or a group of structures, ensuring the water running off the umbrellas’ canopies does not drip down right at the edge into the space below. Perimeter gutters have adjustable slope (fall grade) and selectable direction of discharge.
Features:
- Water is redirected out of the gutter via a dedicated spout or custom downpipe.
- Any debris collected in the flexible gutters (made out of PVC fabric) can be easily removed by flushing with a garden hose.
- Fabric gutters are always color matched with the umbrella canopy. Upon request contrasting or complementary colors are also available.
Slide-In/Slide-Out, Roll-Up/ Roll-Down, marine grade, super clear Vinyl Side Covers and matching Roll-Up doors offer uncompromised and complete wind protection, featuring oversized zipper connectivity and a tight seal at ground level.
HeatRay’s weather protection accessories do more than just enhance customer comfort. They also contribute to a cleaner environment by conserving energy required for running a radiant heating system. Equally, and as importantly, a well-designed suite of weather accessories pays for itself in a very short period of time.
HeatRay side curtains are wind rated to the same Hurricane level as the rest of the umbrella, thus provide an unparalleled protection from the wind and breeze. A fully panoramic aspect ratio of the HeatRay side curtains allow for a complete and full view of the outdoors from within the seating space under the umbrella, creating a feel of openness and a true outdoor appeal.
Features:
- Full panoramic width & height.
- Integrated Rollup Door sections to allow a dedicated part of the side curtain to be opened without opening a whole side.
- Adjustable tension straps at ground level.
- Removable weigh tubes in concealed pockets at the base of the curtains.
- Detachable & height adjustable vertical wind columns at umbrella corners or any other location along perimeters for extra stability and full lateral retention of side curtains in winds above 40mph.
